Kevin Foster, Senior Director, joined C5 in November 2018 after twenty-five years in global leadership roles at Motorola Solutions. A long-time friend and colleague, Kevin served on the original USBLN (Now Disability: IN) Steering Committee and as a Board member when Katherine McCary (C5 President) served as founding chair. Additionally, while at Motorola, Kevin joined Katherine as a part of a US delegation to present to the EU in Brussels.
While at Motorola Kevin made a number of significant contributions while gaining a broad range of experience in EEO/AA, Global Inclusion & Diversity, Disability Inclusion, HR Operations, Program and Project Management, Mergers and Acquisitions, Change Management, Corporate Governance, and HR Technology.
In his Diversity and Inclusion role, Kevin designed an end-to-end methodology and led a global cultural assessment with over 130 focus groups in 20 countries. He performed a comprehensive analysis of the data yielded from the focus groups to support a data-driven approach to validate the inclusion and diversity strategic direction.
After achieving his Six Sigma Black Belt certification, Kevin program managed the HR workstream separating Motorola into two independent publicly traded companies. This role involved leading a global project team defining legal requirements in over 44 countries which included managing consultation and notification requirements, data privacy, data management, and payroll separation. Following the separation, Kevin program managed two large divestitures similar to the scope and complexity of the separation project.
Kevin then joined the global HR leadership team and led Global HR Technology, mergers and acquisitions, program management, and corporate governance.
Kevin is a person with a disability with extensive knowledge of disability inclusion. While at Motorola, he established the Motorola Business Council for People with Disabilities and Allies. Kevin coordinated the launch of this council while hosting the Career Opportunities for Students with Disabilities (COSD) National Conference at the Motorola headquarters in 2004. The council focused on awareness, accessibility, and employment. Kevin maintained an active leadership role on the council for almost 14 years. Kevin has served on numerous boards with disability-focused organizations including the AZ Business Leadership Network and was a founding board member of the USBLN (Now Disability: In). He currently serves as Board Chair of the World Institute on Disability, an organization with a vision for people with disabilities to live fully integrated lives both economically and socially. The World Institute on Disability provides accessibility and inclusion consulting and develops leadership and capability building through a wide range of activities focused on disability programs and policy.
Kevin served on the Telluride Adaptive Sports Program board for over five years and recently joined the board of directors for Guide Dogs of the Desert in June of 2018. The Telluride Adaptive Sports Program challenges inspire and empower children, adults, and veterans with disabilities through a wide range of winter and summer sports including, alpine skiing, ice climbing, backcountry skiing, helicopter skiing, mountain biking, backpacking, rock climbing, and rafting. Guide Dogs of the Desert, based in Palm Springs, trains and pairs guide dogs with blind and visually impaired individuals.
Kevin competed on the US Paralympic Alpine Ski Team in Slalom, Giant Slalom, Super G, and Downhill events in 1986. He won golds in the US Nationals in Jackson Hole and gold in the Giant Slalom at the Canadian Nationals in Banff. Kevin won Silver in the Downhill and Combined at the World Championships in Salen Sweden and participated in speed skiing events.
Through his extensive corporate and volunteer experience, Kevin has developed a deep and practical understanding of the disability community and the needs of businesses.
In 2018, Kevin established his own consulting practice, First Tracks Solutions, which specializes in Inclusion and Diversity strategy and Disability Inclusion strategy. Kevin helps organizations operationalize their inclusion strategies, measure progress, and effectively manage the change process. Kevin is a recognized public speaker conveying a powerful and motivating story about disability inclusion and diversity while pulling from his corporate, adaptive sports, and experience as a person with a disability.
