“The Legal Landscape on Disability and Veterans”
Register
Presenter: Kevin Holden- Jackson Lewis (Pending)
Are you getting ready for Section 503 changes? Are you looking at best practices for inclusion of talent with disabilities? What is your senior leadership expecting from you?
Hear from Kevin Holden (who has presented at past USBLN Annual Conferences as well as the DC Metro and VA BLN Affiliate Programs), who will share what other employers are doing and planning to do as 503 is rolled out most likely in Spring 2013.
OFCCP has published two sets of proposed rules -- one for covered veterans and one for individuals with disabilities -- that are likely to re-shape the landscape for government contractor compliance in the next several years. OFCCP has scheduled the roll out of these two changes for April 2013. If the regulations have been released between the time of this invitation and our program, we will plan to discuss them, of course. If not, Kevin will discuss top ten recommendations for steps that companies can undertake now in anticipation that certain portions of the proposed rules will indeed make it to the final versions.
Learning Objectives:
· What do the proposed regulations require?
· What sections of the proposed regulations are not likely to be eliminated in the final version?
· What are some practical tips, suggestions and ideas to help companies begin to prepare for the possibility that these regulations are adopted without much deviation from their proposed form?

“Accessible Systems: Applicant Tracking Systems, On Line Recruiting for Talent with Disabilities”
Register
Presenter: Eduardo Meza-Etienne
SSB BART
Online Application Tracking Systems (ATS) play an important role in the process of hiring and including People with Disabilities (PwD). Organizations must ensure that those online systems are not creating barriers for individuals with disabilities and are fully accessible and compliant with the current web accessibility standards. These systems include online applications, forms or any documents provided to job seekers and employees through the ATS. To maximize a diverse talent pool and to achieve compliance, it is imperative that recruiting tools and applications are accessible to individuals with all types of disabilities, including vision, hearing, dexterity, and learning.
This webinar will address questions such as: How can an ATS be made accessible to PwD? Does the online system explain to PwD how they can get help using the ATS and where to get assistance if they cannot apply online? Does the online system display the organization’s Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policy statement?
Learning Objectives:
· How Online Applicant Tracking Systems Impact Disability recruiting strategies
· Types of Disabilities most often impacted by on line recruiting systems and accommodation resources
· How to Address Accessibility of Online Applicant Tracking Systems
· What the OFCCP will require from federal contractors and subcontractors
