College Outreach Education

Disability-inclusive employers share concerns that college students with disabilities are not yet experiencing the same rate of employment as their non-disabled peers. C5, in partnership with the DC Metro Business Leadership Network and BroadFutures, created two complimentary cloud-based educational modules with content developed by employers, educators, students as well as graduates who have begun their careers to address the preparation for and success of careers for talent with disabilities.  These modules, “Striving” to support current students and “Thriving” to support those entering their career journey, were created based on three perspectives: “If I only knew then what I know now” (Working graduates), “What more can I share with students about the world of work?” (Career/Disability Services offices) and “How can we support a successful transition from school to work?” (Business community).

As with C5’s  Disability Inclusion IQ modules, these modules were designed with accessibility in mind and each includes a PowerPoint deck, a written transcript, Audio, Resources, Glossary of Terms and a short quiz to test for knowledge. Our goal is to have more than 1,000 learners within the first year of distribution. We recognize that it takes ongoing collective efforts and many approaches to change career outcomes. We ask that you join us in our effort to positively impact these outcomes by utilizing them within your campus recruiting efforts.
